Date: Wednesday, April 19, 2023
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Place:

  • Training aircraft on west side of the airport
  • Consolidated Maintenance Facility - 10100 Golf Course Rd.
  • Airport Career and Development Center – 2800 Spirit of Texas Dr.

Department of Aviation Staff, Aircraft Fire and Rescue, Austin Fire Department, Austin-Travis County EMS, Austin Police Department, American Red Cross, and multiple City and County agencies will be participating.

AUS is required to conduct a mock full-scale exercise to test its Airport Emergency Plan every thirty-six consecutive calendar months by the FAA. This plan outlines the response procedures for Airport personnel and on-site partners that must respond to and manage emergencies that occur on airport property. The exercise is vital to guaranteeing that all personnel are not only familiar with the emergency plan, but also properly trained in their duties and fully understand their role in the face of a disaster.

For Media: Due to PIO's participation in the exercise, we will not be available for interviews until after the demonstration has concluded.
