The Congress Avenue bridge will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 to 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 as Bat Fest returns.
The event features two outdoor stages with music starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, as well as arts and crafts booths, food and drinks. Sometime around sunset, hundreds of thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats that nest under the Congress Avenue bridge usually wake up and begin their flight.
The City's website has information on alternative routes for traffic during the bridge closure. Multiple CapMetro MetroBus and MetroRapid lines stop in the vicinity of the Congress Avenue Bridge.
Use CapMetro's trip planner to find the best route to the event, or consider taking a MetroBike, your personal bike, or walking on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail. |
