As the City and the Austin Police Department prepare to lay to rest Senior Police Officer Jorge “George” Pastore, who tragically died in the line of duty on Saturday, they ask Austinites to expect and prepare for significant traffic delays Friday, November 17, 2023, during the procession as well as before and following the funeral service. Those traveling to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport tomorrow should also allow extra time to get to the airport in addition to arriving to the airport property at least 2.5 hours prior to their flight’s departure. Tomorrow’s peak times for baggage check and TSA security screening will be between 5 a.m. through 7 a.m. Travelers should expect extended lines for passenger processing during this time. Visitation and funeral services will take place Friday morning at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater at Circuit of the Americas. Those wishing to attend the service to pay their respects should take traffic conditions into consideration while planning. While there will not be any dedicated road closures, expect traffic delays as the procession passes through major intersections and along roadways. Drivers along the procession route are encouraged to move to the right side of the roadway, if possible, and slow down or stop until the funeral procession has passed. Procession route begins at 8:00 a.m.:
