Austin drivers can win cash in “safest driver” competition

Crashes aren't accidents. People make decisions every second while driving, and driving distracted is one of the four key driving behaviors that can lead to serious crashes.

Safe2Save, in partnership with the City of Austin, is hosting a competition where Austin-area residents can win up to $10,000 in cash prizes just by staying off their phones while driving.

Austin-area residents can participate in a month-long competition to see who can reach the highest driving score. At the end of the competition, all drivers who have a score of 98 or above will be entered into a drawing to win the following prizes:

  • First prize is $3,000
  • Second prize is $2,000
  • Third prize is $1,000

In addition to these prizes, one user will win $500 each week of the competition. Prizes will be awarded by Farm & City through a grant from State Farm Insurance.

To enter the competition, participants can download the free app (available on iOS and Android) called SAFE2SAVE. Enter the competition code: AUSTIN2021. Turn the app on before beginning driving and start earning rewards immediately for free and discounted items at popular restaurant chains and local merchants.

SAFE 2 SAVE, the creator of the competition, is a mobile app that rewards users for driving undistracted. When driving over 10 mph and using the SAFE 2 SAVE app, participants will receive a driving score based on the number of times they touch their phones. The less a participant touches their phone, the higher their driving score.
