Juneteenth Central Texas
Juneteenth, also known as "Freedom Day" or "Emancipation Day," is the oldest known African American celebration commemorating the end of slavery. Austin’s Juneteenth celebrations kick off this Saturday, June 19, at 10 a.m. with a parade starting at the corner of MLK Jr. Blvd. and Salina St. Following the parade, this year’s in-person event will feature music, entertainment and a festival with food and local vendors at Rosewood Park.
