Austin Public Health Hiring Community Health Workers to Address COVID-19 and other Health Disparities

Austin Public Health is hosting a Community Health Worker Job Fair this Saturday, Oct. 16, to recruit health workers who will work within Austin-Travis County's underserved and high-risk communities to build the trusted relationships that are the foundation of developing healthy behaviors and relationships with health care providers.    

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year's experience in some form of community service. Bilingual applicants of all languages are strongly encouraged to apply. Job duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Conducting in-person outreach and education  

  • Building relationships and awareness to build trust among community members  

  • Disseminating up-to-date, accurate, and culturally relevant information  

  • Attending community events and gatherings in trusted community locations 

  • Connecting community members to basic needs resources 

Event: Community Health Worker Job Fair 

When: Saturday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Where: Montopolis Recreation Center, 1200 Montopolis Dr, Austin, TX 78741

Individuals attending the event should bring a resume or City of Austin job application with them. Spanish interpreters will be on-site.

Free COVID-19 vaccinations will also be offered during the event. Pfizer (12 years of age and up), Moderna (18 years of age and up) COVID-19 vaccines will be available. Those who are under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian with them.
