The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Austin Parks Foundation and Austin Independent School District invite the public to the Sanchez Elementary Green School Park Ribbon Cutting on October 27 at 11 a.m. at 64 Waller St. This is an outdoor park event. Dress comfortably.
Sanchez Elementary Green School Park combines nature play, new trees, an outdoor classroom, and traditional park amenities for an experience that is enjoyed by both children and adults alike. A playful circuit of balance logs, stump jumps, stepping stones, and a play bridge encourage movement, balance, and agility all while engaging with natural materials.
In March of 2016, the City of Austin was one of seven cities nationwide selected to receive a planning grant from the project partners for Cities Connecting Children to Nature. Sanchez Elementary Green School Park is the last pilot site in the Green School Parks program, a key strategy of the Cities Connecting Children to Nature initiative of the City of Austin.
This project was funded in part by an ACL Music Festival Grant from Austin Parks Foundation (APF). Founded in 1992, APF is dedicated to partnering with our community to enhance people’s lives by making our public parks, trails and green spaces better through volunteerism, innovative programming, advocacy and financial support.
