Austin-Egypt Fashion Exchange Program Opens Pop-Up Store in Downtown Austin

The City of Austin Economic Development Department invites residents to shop the ATX+EGYPT Fashion Pop-Up this holiday season. The pop-up store features clothing, jewelry, bags, leather goods, and more by Austin and Egyptian fashion designers participating in the ATX+EGYPT Entrepreneurship Program. The store will be open December 5 - 20 at 225 West 2nd Street and open Monday – Saturday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 - 5 p.m.

"This pop-up store is a great opportunity to support Austin fashion designers during the holiday season," said Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, Acting Director for the Austin Economic Development Department. "The store also provides fashion designers from Cairo with an opportunity to access the U.S. market. We are excited to welcome shoppers into the ATX+EGYPT Fashion Pop-Up and support our world-renowned fashion industry."

The ATX+EGYPT Fashion Pop-Up is funded through a grant from the U.S. Embassy Cairo and operated through a partnership between the City of Austin, the ACC Fashion IncubatorFashion By TexasLa Reina and Macy's. As part of the fashion exchange, a pop-up store in Egypt will open in February 2022 featuring the Austin fashion brands.

"We are thrilled to welcome global designers to this in-store experience," said Nina Means, ACC Fashion Incubator Director. Means invited ACC Fashion Incubator partner, Macy's, to support the pop-up shop delivery team providing guidance and equipment to the buildout, visual merchandising, and sales team training.

The pop-up store is part of the ATX+EGYPT Entrepreneurship Program, a year-long international business development program supporting the global expansion of Austin-based fashion businesses. The no-cost program prepares local fashion businesses for the global $1.5 trillion fashion marketplace and increases exposure of emerging Egyptian businesses to the Austin and United States economy.
