Austin City Council Member Mackenzie Kelly Commemorates Graham Dale with “Graham Dale Day” Proclamation 01/11/2024

 

In a heartfelt tribute to an Austin hero, City Council Member Mackenzie Kelly will present a proclamation honoring the late Graham Dale, an individual who made the ultimate sacrifice while bravely fighting in the Ukraine war.

Graham Dale, a former resident of Austin, Texas, and a respected member of the United States Marine Corps and the Jollyville Volunteer Fire Department, tragically lost his life in defense of freedom during the Russian invasion in Ukraine in December of 2023.

This proclamation, officially declaring January 11, 2024, as "Graham Dale Day" in the City of Austin, is a testament to Graham's extraordinary service and sacrifice. It recognizes his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place and serves as an inspiration to the community.

Council Member Mackenzie Kelly served at the Jollyville Fire Department as a volunteer with Graham Dale for over a decade. She expressed her deep respect for Graham's dedication, stating, "Graham Dale embodied the true spirit of selflessness and community service. His legacy will forever remind us of the importance of standing up for our beliefs and working towards a better world. I am proud to have called him a friend."

The proclamation will be presented at the Jollyville Fire Department, located at 9218 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas 78729, on January 11, 2024. Friends and community members are invited to gather at 6 p.m. to share stories and memories of Graham Dale.

The City of Austin, through this proclamation, extends its deepest condolences to Graham Dale's family and friends. Graham Dale Day encourages citizens to participate in local events and activities that honor the values he stood for.
