“With all the development happening in North Austin, it’s important to provide travel options for all,” said Council Member Leslie Pool of Council District 7. "The Red Line Trail will provide a convenient walking and biking path to public transportation and nearby trails, businesses, and the Q2 stadium. I look forward to seeing this trail transform the daily commute for residents and provide greater access to nature.”

During the open house comment period, residents can meet the project team, ask questions, and provide feedback in person at two upcoming tabling events:The City of Austin Capital Delivery Services Department, in collaboration with Austin Transportation and Public Works Department’s Urban Trails Program, will develop the Red Line Trail (Braker Lane to Northern Walnut Creek Trail) in four distinct segments. Constructing the trail in different segments will save money and simplify construction logistics alongside other ongoing projects in the area. Funding for this section of the Red Line Trail comes from the 2016 and 2020 Austin Mobility Bonds.

Looking ahead, the long-term vision for the Red Line Trail is to establish a 32+ mile trail and transit corridor, linking the MetroRail Downtown Austin Station to the City of Leander, following the existing Red Line rail corridor.
